Day 1: Arrival at Klahoose Wilderness Resort
Depart from Lund Harbour at 3:00 PM aboard our covered water taxi for a scenic journey through Desolation Sound to Klahoose Wilderness Resort.
Traditional Welcome - ɬayiščxʷ: Invitation to Come Ashore
As toq qaymɩxʷ (Klahoose) people, whose heritage is deeply tied to the coastal lands, our traditional travel is by canoe or boat. When we visit new territories, we introduce ourselves, state our intentions, and respectfully ask permission to come ashore. As hosts, our responsibility is to protect our community, land, and nature while treating our guests with kindness and respect.
Upon arrival at Klahoose Wilderness Resort, you’ll receive an invitation to step ashore, following our time-honoured protocol. We will extend warm hospitality, ensuring you're well-fed and comfortable during your stay. At this time, we also remind you that our stories, images, place names, and language are deeply meaningful, belonging to our cultural interpreters and the qaymɩxʷ community. We ask our guests to reflect on their visit and honour the sacred principles of our traditional welcome and protocol.
After the traditional welcome, we’ll provide a resort orientation and a welcome drink. Light snacks will be available before dinner.
Dinner will be a set menu, followed by a briefing on the next day’s activities and an evening of cultural sharing, which may include storytelling, wood carving, and cedar weaving.
Day 2: Wildlife & Waterfalls
After breakfast, we will gather at the dock for a half-day boat tour to explore the area’s marine life and natural beauty. Keep an eye out for humpback whales, admire the ancient pictographs, and take in the majestic Yekwamen (Toba Inlet) waterfalls.
In the afternoon, you’ll have time to enjoy the resort's amenities, including kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, the wood-fired sauna, ocean swimming, or a tour of our micro-hydro system.
Enjoy Social hour with snacks before dinner, followed by another evening of cultural connections and conversation.
Day 3: Ahpokum and Cultural Immersion After breakfast, we’ll embark on a boat trip to Ahpokum (Forbes Bay), a seasonal village site for the Klahoose people. Here, we will engage in storytelling and share lunch. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in a traditional cultural river bathing experience, or simply observe. For the return journey, you may choose to come back by boat or opt for a kayaking adventure.
The afternoon is free for you to relax and enjoy the resort’s offerings. Social hour will be followed by a set dinner and an evening of cultural sharing, including a cedar-brushing off and smudging ceremony.
Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, we will gather your bags and prepare for the traditional farewell ceremony.
We will depart from the resort at 10:00 AM for your return journey to Lund Harbour.

Day 4 Enjoy the Resort
After a leisurely breakfast, the day is yours to fully embrace the peaceful surroundings of Klahoose Wilderness Resort. Spend your time as you wish, exploring the resort’s many offerings at your own pace.
You may choose to relax by the waterfront, paddle along the tranquil coastline in a kayak, or venture on a hike through the lush forests. The wood-fired sauna is available for a rejuvenating experience, or you may opt for a refreshing swim in the ocean.
For those seeking a deeper connection with nature or to be more active, consider a short nature hike or longer walk to a grove of old-growth trees. You can also enjoy quiet moments of reflection or explore the resort’s sustainable micro-hydro system.
Today is also a day you can consider adding any optional tours like helicopter adventures to the surrounding coast mountains and fishing charters guided by professional fishing guides with their own boats. (additional charges apply - and should be booked in advance).
In the evening, join us for our golden hour gathering, where guests can come together, share stories, and reflect on their experiences before enjoying a final dinner followed by an evening of cultural sharing including a cedar-brushing off and smudging ceremony.

Day 2: Grizzly Bear Viewing
After breakfast, we embark on a scenic one-hour journey by covered boat, passing the stunning waterfalls of Toba Inlet and watching for marine life along the way. Upon arrival at our dock in Toba Inlet, we take a brief bus ride to our secluded bear viewing platforms, nestled in the temperate rainforest of the Toba Valley, overlooking the glacier-blue waters of a remote river deep in Klahoose Territory
Our knowledgeable Klahoose guides will spend approximately three hours with you, getting as close as possible to the majestic grizzly bears while ensuring your safety and the bears' respect. From our fixed platforms, you’ll have the rare opportunity to observe these incredible animals in their natural habitat.
Enjoy social hour with snacks before dinner, followed by another evening of cultural connections and conversation.
Day 3: Grizzly Bear Viewing After breakfast, we’ll embark on a second day of grizzly bear viewing. No two days are the same, so we will be on the lookout for marine-life like humpback whales, dolphins and Orca, as we travel by boat, and enjoy more time watching the magnificent grizzly bears as they feed on salmon.
Social hour will be followed by a set dinner and an evening of cultural sharing.
Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, we will gather your bags and prepare for the traditional farewell ceremony.
