Klahoose Wilderness Resort sits just north of the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia in Homfray Channel, known in the Ayajuthem language as Thee chum mi yich, meaning further back inside. Set oceanside in lush coastal rainforest on the southern edge of the Great Bear Rainforest, the resort is surrounded by the warm, calm waters of Desolation Sound and framed by the rugged Coast Mountains. Because of our remote and pristine setting, access is only by water or air.

Boat transfer from Lund

Most guests begin their stay with our scheduled boat transfer from Lund, British Columbia. This covered vessel takes you through the beauty of Desolation Sound to the resort in about 60 minutes, and the transfer is included with all stays. An a complimentary airport transfer can be arrange for those connecting with flights between Vancouver and Powell River. 

What is included

Your stay includes all meals, guided tours, and the return boat transfer from Lund for stays of three, four, or seven nights. Our resort covered boat operates from May to October on a regular schedule, either Thursday to Sunday or Sunday to Thursday.

Travel Options
 
Option 1: Drive
A relaxed and scenic start to your stay. Travel from Vancouver or Vancouver Island to Lund via BC Ferries, park your vehicle, and meet our crew at 2:30 pm for the water taxi to the resort. We are always happy to guide you through ferry schedules and timing.

Drive (5-6 hours) from Vancouver or Vancouver Island to the Sunshine Coast with BC Ferries to Lund, BC. Park your car in Lund (parking paid locally) and meet our boat at 2:30pm 


Option 2: Pacific Coastal Airlines to Powell River
A relaxed and scenic start to your stay. Travel from Vancouver or Vancouver Island to Lund via BC Ferries, park your vehicle, and meet our crew at 2:30 pm for the water taxi to the resort. We are always happy to guide you through ferry schedules and timing.

Scheduled Flight Pacific Coastal Airlines flight from Vancouver International Airport South Terminal 
to Powell River Airport.

Flight is 35 minutes from Vancouver to Powell River. Shared Land Transfer from Powell River Airport to Lund is about one hour.
These flight with shared transfer are available from May to October. 

Rate: from $670  per person plus tax, round-trip flight. Powell River Airport - Lund shuttle and water taxi is included, offered once daily, in our packages - book through Klahoose Wilderness Resort or Pacific Coastal Airlines.

Option 3: CorilAir Seaplane from Vacouver
A 60 to 90 minute scenic seaplane flight from the city direct to our wilderness dock. We can coordinate your booking with CorilAir and help with timing and connection

Flight is approximately 60-90 minutes from Vancouver to our dock. This flight may include additional stops. These flight are available daily from June to September. 
Rate: from $1,279 per person plus tax, round-trip - book through Klahoose Wilderness Resort or CorilAir Charters.

Option 4: CorilAir Seaplane from Campbell River 
A beautiful 20 minute seaplane flight direct from Campbell River on Vancouver Island to our dock. Fast, effortless, and scenic. We can coordinate your booking with CorilAir and help with timing and connections.

Flight is scheduled daily and is approximately 20 minutes from Campbell River to our dock. This flight may include additional stops.

Travel Planning
By Land and Ferry  
The drive from Vancouver to Lund, located on the northern end of the Sunshine Coast is considered one of the most spectacular car journeys in North America. The route includes two BC ferry crossings with plenty of additional sightseeing options along the way. The total journey time is typically 5-6 hours with several picturesque villages and ferry rides en-route. 

The 40-minute crossing from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale captures the magnificent scenery of Howe Sound and the B.C. Lower Mainland. A beautiful 90-minute drive from Langdale can include detours to the coastal village of Gibson and ends in Earls Cove where the Saltery Bay Ferry conveys passengers for 50 minutes across still more sublime scenery. The final one-hour drive to Lund passes through historic and now booming coastal town of Powell River. Note: EV Chagring stations are available in Powell River.  

On Vancouver Island, BC Ferries regularly depart Comox, close to Campbell River, for a 1 hour 20 minutes crossing to Powell River. Lund is about 45 minutes drive from historic town of Powell River. 
 
Our boat transfer from Lund Harbour to Desolation Sound and the Resort, takes about 60 minutes and is scheduled to depart at about 3:00 pm on Thursdays and Sundays.

By Scheduled Air and Transfer
Located deep within the heart of the remote Desolation Sound biosphere, Klahoose Wilderness Resort is remarkably accessible. Several flight options are available and can be booked through the Klahoose reservation team. 
a)  Scheduled flights with Pacific Coastal Airlines departs from Vancouver International (YVR) South Terminal to Powell River Airport (YPW) and only takes 35 minutes, followed by our pre-arranged shared road transfer (1 hour) to the charming coastal town of Lund. Upon arrival to Lund Harbour guests are greeted by their local host and take a scenic 60 minute covered boat transfer into Desolation Sound and Klahoose Wilderness Resort.

Note: Schedules are based on Pacific Coastal Airlines schedule and are subject to change. Please check with us for the most up to date flight schedules as we only offer one scheduled boat + land transfer per day. The complimentary connecting land shuttle is also once daily as a shared transfer option to help promote sustainability and matches the arrival and departure flights below. 
Early or late boat and land transfers to connect to different flights or ferry times are not included but are available for an additional cost.

b) Scheduled seaplane flight with CorilAir Charters departs Vancouver International Airport (YVR) South Terminal,  60-90 minute flight OR Campbell River, 20 minute flight direct to the Klahoose Wilderness Resort's dock.  The seaplane flight is beautiful as you fly over the BC coast and you may stop at other small float plane accessible locations, in the Desolation Sound area.

By Charter Flight
Private pre-schedule seaplane charters are available from Vancouver, Whistler, and Seattle directly to the Resort dock. Shorter charter flights can be arranged from Vancouver Island, Tofino or Campbell River. Seaplane Flights from Vancouver International (YVR) South Terminal direct to Klahoose Wilderness Resort's dock takes about one  hour.  

Private pre-scheduled helicopter service directly to the Klahoose Wilderness Resort’s Heli-landing area is also available from Campbell River or Lund and takes about 20 minutes. 
Vancouver
We recommend Indigenous owned Gulf Island Seaplanes  or Harbour Air Seaplanes for charter seaplane service between Vancouver Airport or Vancouver Harbour direct to our dock (flight is about one hour from Vancouver to Klahoose Wilderness Resort)
 
Seattle
For Seattle we recommend Kenmore Air with service between Seattle/Lake Union direct to our dock, via customs in Nanaimo. (travel time is about two hours from Seattle)

By Sea
It is also possible to access Klahoose Wilderness Resort by private boat or scheduled expedition cruise ship excursion and stay with us with one of our packages.  We do have limited moorage for boaters looking to stay with us on one of our 3 or 4 night all-inclusive packages.  
Note we do not offer transient moorage. For nearby transient moorage in Desolation Sound, please see our sister business with a full service Marina, RV Park, and Resort at Gorge Harbour Marina Resort, located on Cortes Island, BC.
